A. muciniphila

Akkermansia muciniphila is a probiotic which shows potential in reducing inflammation in many diseases such as Immunodeficiency, HIV, Systemic Lupus, Psoriasis, Atopic Dermatitis, and Irritable Bowel Disease. It may even have potential in improving cancer treatments. Akkermansia is passed through breast milk in newborns, thus being some of the first bacteria to colonize the digestive tract. 1

It consumes mucin and creates short-chain fatty acids which benefit other healthy bacteria in the gut.
